I'm testing out OnOne Software's Perfect B&W and this is one of the first results. A small tortoiseshell butterfly resting in the sun on the leaf of a Viburnum davidii shrub. Pefect B&W allows me to easily create layers and to then apply one of their many B&W effects to that layer. By masking out part of the image, in this case the butterfly, I can apply one or more effects to the background and then retain the full colour of the butterfly in another layer. Much of this can be done with any modern editing software, such as Paintshop Pro, Adobe Elements or Photoshop, but there's no doubt that Perfect B&W makes the choices for monochrome imagery very easy.
A few weeks in a beautifully hot Bavaria, Germany in summer 2012, based mainly in Munich meant lots of wonderful photo opportunities. I decided to use a really good little travel camera, the Olympus XZ-1, rather than all my usual heavy camera gear, and this proved invaluable for lovely comfortable cycle rides, walks and tours, such as the one shown above to Schloss Hohenschwangau and Schloss Neuschwanstein (the amazing Disney-like castle). You can see a photobook of many of the photos taken by clicking this link - Bavaria PhotoBook 2012
Welcome to the erstwhile home of photographs and photo artworks resulting from many years of wandering around the UK and Europe with a love of photography.
This website is currently being transferred to the new Microsoft Office 365 and will be developed over the coming months - please bear with us and keeping checking back for progress. I will be adding pages with images of flowers, motorsport, lowflying aircraft, landscapes and panoramas, artworks and much much more. So, if you'd like to be kept informed of any new pages added or major changes to the website please use the 'Contact Us' form.
With the changes that Microsoft have brought about there will be some bugs initially, such as mishapen images in the FaceBook Box below, so I'll try our best to keep it looking good! You will also find, at the bottom of this page, links to some other websites that have my images.
And please, if you enjoy seeing the imagery that is regularly uploaded to Facebook's 'JustSwanningAround Imagery' page (click on the link below), then please make sure to press the 'Like' button on the 'JustSwanningAround Imagery' page!
